The Saturday Pick-up

So, we went to pick-up Kelli's things and it went as well as I thought it would. There were lots of tears and awkward moments, but all in all it went well.

First we met at Denny's (Perkins or someplace like that) and had a lovely dinner with Tim Karla (Karri's folks) and their friends Kim Chris Copple. Chris is hilarious and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Jon (Kelli's finance) was also there.

We then went to Jon's house and I picked up the Olds '88 and drove it home, filled with a lot of stuff. Not really a lot to say about the day, so there we go. I'll be in touch later.

Black Wednesday is Over!

For those who know me, I am not a romantic. Excluding the whipped cream incident, I don't try to be one. I say that I can be loving an nice all year long, so I don't need V-day to express my feelings. I may not actually be loving and nice, but 1 day a year isn't going to act like a get out of jail free card either. So until they can come up with a holiday for men (please don't tell me that V-day is for men & women, how many men do you know that love getting flowers and a card) I am not going to enjoy wasting money.

With that said, I did take my lovely wife out to dinner and a movie. We had Chinese (excellent buffet) and went to Freedom Writers. The original plan was to go to Milligan and eat at An Evening with Friends (a restaurant), but thank goodness the roads were bad, so we got to hang out in Fairbury instead. Freedom Writers was a enjoyable movie based on a true story about kids in South L.A. that hate school, then get a teacher their freshman year that really cares about them. They all wrote journals and Mrs. G (the teacher) combined them into a book called The Freedom Writers. The assignment was based upon The Diary of Anne Frank, so a lot of war talk (gang fights) and Nazi comparisons. It is amazing what you can accomplish when you actually sell out for a cause. Very enjoyable.

That is about it for now, I'll post next week about how the trip to Lincoln went to get Kelli's things. I'm not looking forward to it, there may be lots of tears.

Adam

MVP Grossman.....My brothers Baby!

Wow. I have been very bitter the last few days due to the completely inept performance by Rex Grossman. The thought of his play during the superbowl still causes nightmares. The possibility of him coming back to Chicago to play for another year (his contract year no less) is something that I cannot bear. I don't even want to talk about Rex until after the draft. Seriously, don't even bring it up anymore. Still a little bitter I guess.

But here is something I am SO excited for, the birth of my very first blood nephew....Miles Philip Rogge. Shae (my brother Matt's wife) had the little guy at 11:58 pm on Saturday, February 3rd. He weighed in at 8 lbs .01 oz and was 20.5 long with a head that circled 13.5. YEAH, he is a cute little guy and I went to see him yesterday and took a picture, the best one so far in my opinion.

Here is little Miles Philip Rogge
(note the hair, absolutely fantastic)

The bad news is he doesn't get to come home yet. He still has a high white blood cell count and is on an IV until the 10th. The doctors still don't know exactly what the problem is, but the splotches on his face are going away and hopefully this is as bad as it gets. Matt and Shae are very relaxed and know that everything is going to be fine, which is great. So HORRAY for the new Rogge.

Bear Down, Chicago Bears

THE CHICAGO BEARS ARE IN THE SUPERBOWL! I cannot tell you how exiting this is. There is plenty of talk about how Manning is going to throw all over the Bears D, but I am hoping that he chokes like he has the last 4 years in the postseason. Here is what I think may happen for a Bears victory...
1. Manning chokes under pressure, the Bears D looks spectacular and the Grossman has a "good" day (no turnovers and 1 TD) = Bears Win 34 - 17

2. Manning chokes under pressure and the Bears D looks good. Grossman, however, plays like an idiot and Hester has to return a TD for the special teams to pull us through = Bears Win 24 - 21

If Manning plays well, the Bears only chance is that Grossman plays like the first five games of the season. ON FIRE. In any other situation, it could be a crummy superbowl for the Bears.

I will be cheering loudly (with my little Bro Mark - another Bears fan) and will supply pictures of this great event (the Superbowl, not my party) in my next blog.

I will leave you with this... (sing along if you can)

Bear down!, Chicago Bears! Make every play clear the way to victory!
Bear down, Chicago Bears! Put up a fight with a might so fearlessly!
We'll never forget the way you thrilled the nation, with your T formation.
Bear down, Chicago Bears, and let them know why you're wearing the crown
You're the pride and joy of lllinois. Chicago Bears, bear down!
