For those who know me, I am not a romantic. Excluding the whipped cream incident, I don't try to be one. I say that I can be loving an nice all year long, so I don't need V-day to express my feelings. I may not actually be loving and nice, but 1 day a year isn't going to act like a get out of jail free card either. So until they can come up with a holiday for men (please don't tell me that V-day is for men & women, how many men do you know that love getting flowers and a card) I am not going to enjoy wasting money.
With that said, I did take my lovely wife out to dinner and a movie. We had Chinese (excellent buffet) and went to Freedom Writers. The original plan was to go to Milligan and eat at An Evening with Friends (a restaurant), but thank goodness the roads were bad, so we got to hang out in Fairbury instead. Freedom Writers was a enjoyable movie based on a true story about kids in South L.A. that hate school, then get a teacher their freshman year that really cares about them. They all wrote journals and Mrs. G (the teacher) combined them into a book called The Freedom Writers. The assignment was based upon The Diary of Anne Frank, so a lot of war talk (gang fights) and Nazi comparisons. It is amazing what you can accomplish when you actually sell out for a cause. Very enjoyable.
That is about it for now, I'll post next week about how the trip to Lincoln went to get Kelli's things. I'm not looking forward to it, there may be lots of tears.
Toodles,
Adam
