Long Time Since the Last Post

I just wanted to update the blog, since I'm here at lunch and I haven't posted for quite a while. Here is a brief rundown on what's going on.

Work:
I continue to be here in Hobbs, NM building the Hobbs Power Plant. We are really pushing the electrical folks now to hit our first major milestone of Backfeed. This is when we bring power in from Xcel Energy and power up our major pieces of equipment. After the plant is up and running, we will sell power to Xcel Energy, but for now we are going to buy it. I'd get more technical, but I doubt anyone that reads this will really care that much. I continue to love my job and can't wait to finish up this job so we can move along to the next. Ah, the life of a gypsy. I think I missed my calling.

Home:
All is well at home. Cole is starting to talk more and more, and he copies everything I say (or at least tries to). Natalie is now dancing at a dance studio in Hobbs and loves it. We have a recital in Aprilish and had to shell out a bunch of money. Good Times. Dylan had a science project that he put into a science fair and ended up getting 2nd place. He is in second grade but competed against 1st thru 3rd grade. We of course were very proud of him. I have a picture on my phone, but can't get it moved to this page. I'll get better if I continue to actually blog during lunch. Karri is still prego and due in January. We don't know what we are having and are not going to find out. This will be the only suprise of the bunch, so it should be fun during birth. (Well, as much fun as birth can be)

That is all I have for now, I'll update again later.

I've moved to New Mexico!

I'm only 1.5 hours away from Roswell. That's right, AREA 51 - Alien abduction central. So far there has been no anal probes, but one may never know.

So I have changed jobs. I used to live in Fairbury, NE and work at Tetra Micronutrients, but now I live in Hobbs, NM and work for Colorado Energy Management (CEM). I quit Tetra because the management mistreated employee's and told me to put my job ahead of my family. I don't want to write anything too damaging about Tetra - not because I ever want to go back, but because I am just not that kind of guy. If you really want to know about why I quit, leave me your e-mail address or phone number and I'll let you know. Good stories, I promise.

So I am back at CEM building power plants and I love it. The real problem is that my family is still in Nebraska until the start of October, and I really wish they were here. It has been two years since I was away from my family for a prolonged period of time, and I remember why I don't like it. I was just on the phone with my wife and my youngest (Cole - 1.5 yrs) started yelling "Let's Go!" It was addorable and I could actually understand him. Wow do I wish my family was here.

I'll have more updates later - cause I have nothing else to do but hand out on my e-mail and blogspot.

Long Time...No Post

Wow,

It has been a while since the last time I posted, so I'll do my best to catch everyone up on how things are going....

I have started golfing again this year and I am "very excite". Dad gave me a new r7 Taylormade Quad driver for my birthday and I am getting better at hitting it. The first couple rounds were very strong, then I went on a slump (shooting a 61 on 9 holes during league) and I am finally coming out of it now. I also received a gift card from my in-laws and purchased a new C-Groove putter that I am DYING to play with. I bought it at Golf USA and was stroking it, so I have high hopes that my game will improve at least a couple strokes immediately.

I have also started bicycle commuting to work for exercise and to save gas money as well. It is a 2.5 mile trip one way to work, and I do it 4 times a day. (To work, home for lunch, back to work, and home for the day) I am really enjoying the ride to work and I really notice when I have to drive the car in. I have much more energy and am more awake the days I bike in. I have already purchased biking shorts (the baggy type), gloves, and a helmet and have noticed a HUGE difference in the comfort level of my ride. If anyone is going to start biking to work, buy a pair of shorts. It really makes a difference.

Other items of interest....I won my bet against Jon, so he will be wearing a French Maid costume or a Tiger Mistress costume. I haven't decided which yet...Dylan had surgery on a left hydroseal and all went well. He will have to lay low for about a month, but should feel just fine...I am helping to plan the Fairbury Class of 1997 ten year reunion...

That is about it for now. I'll try and post more often for you Tim, my only reader.

No TV is Good for the Soul

So I need to just come out and say this.....I don't have t.v. Don't get me wrong. I own a television. In fact it is a very large television that fits in perfectly with my entire basement t.v. viewing room. It is like my families own private theatre. The thing is, I don't have cable or rabbit ears or any channel for that matter. In the day of American Idol, Lost, House, and Survior, I am completely in the dark...and you know what? I like it. (I admit, I own season 1 & 2 of House on DVD and will get season 3 when it comes out)Not a single morning comes around where I think to myself, "Self - you should have really gotten of your arse yesterday night and done something around the house." That's right, I actually get to spend my evenings with my family playing games, talking, and playing outside. If anyone is in a rut...I recommend cutting out your t.v. (Just make sure someone you know keeps it so you can watch Husker football games and other sporting events)

In other news, I have lost 12 lbs in the "May the best Fatty Win" contest. I was down to 224 lbs the other day and I continue to get smaller. I have now started getting up a little earlier to ride my bike in the morning. That's right Jon, diet and excersise. I hope your legs will look good in a dress.

I hope all is well and I will be back later.

Twice the Enjoyment

So I haven't posted in a while and a couple fun things happened. We first went to Fort Morgan for a little mini-vacation. The whole family left on a Thursday and drove the 6.5 hrs (if you took it in a strait shot) to Colorado. I am still on the diet, so we ate at Wendy's for lunch. I had the Frascetta sandwich with baked Lay's and a Dasani. Karri had a plain cheeseburger that ended up being less calories then the sandwich. I gave up on the diet for the weekend after finding that out. Anyway, we "lived" with our friends the Oden's. It could have been the most relaxing weekend I have ever had. The kids all played will together, there was lots of down time with card playing and talking. We also visited all of our friends for each meal, which was a lot of fun. You don't realize how much you miss a place until you go back to visit. I was definitely not ready for work on Tuesday when I came back, but I was very refreshed and in a wonderful mood. I can't put into words how wonderful everything was. Thanks to everyone in Ft. Morgan for an awesome rest.

We also went to a farm sale in Elsie, NE on St. Paddy's Day. Karri's third cousin died and they sold all of his stuff, hence the pictures of the china below. I needed to post pictures on this site so I could show them on e-bay's discussion board to figure out what the pattern name was. Amazing people on e-bay, they will do a lot of research on something you have no idea about. I am very impressed. I also purchased a leaf blower (which I used yesterday), a mailbox, screwdrivers, a cooler, and a box of misc. goodies. (Crap, my wife would say) I also received a sunburn on my head for free. Good times at the farm sale. I LOVE them.

That is all I have for now, I"ll try not to bore you with my life stories next post (the 1 person that reads this...Thanks Tim)

May the Best Fatty Win!

So, if you haven't seen me lately, I am Fatty McFatterson. I weight more on a day to day basis then I ever have in my entire life. I have a huge belly and I can't see my wiener when I pee. This is very disturbing to me. My twin brother Jon is Chunky McChunkerson. He also has a large gut, but I'm not sure on the wiener thing. We are what lay people call obese. Jon called me in an uproar the other day and we decided to do something about it. We are having a contest!

Starting March 1, 2007 until May 18, 2007 (our birthday) Jon and I are going to see who can lose the most weight. I started the contest weighing 235 while Chunky weighed in at 241. Jon's goal is 220, while I want to hit about 210. The winner of this little contest gets to pick out the outfit of the loser for our Thanksgiving Bowling outing. It is a family tradition that after lunch on Turkeyday, the Rogge's go bowling. We always do dances for strikes and talk mad trash in a completely packed alley. This year will even be more interesting. I feel sorry for the loser. That is all I can say.

So any words of encouragement anyone can shout out to me would be great. (Like anyone really reads this anyway)

Let the Games Begin.

The Saturday Pick-up

So, we went to pick-up Kelli's things and it went as well as I thought it would. There were lots of tears and awkward moments, but all in all it went well.

First we met at Denny's (Perkins or someplace like that) and had a lovely dinner with Tim Karla (Karri's folks) and their friends Kim Chris Copple. Chris is hilarious and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Jon (Kelli's finance) was also there.

We then went to Jon's house and I picked up the Olds '88 and drove it home, filled with a lot of stuff. Not really a lot to say about the day, so there we go. I'll be in touch later.

Black Wednesday is Over!

For those who know me, I am not a romantic. Excluding the whipped cream incident, I don't try to be one. I say that I can be loving an nice all year long, so I don't need V-day to express my feelings. I may not actually be loving and nice, but 1 day a year isn't going to act like a get out of jail free card either. So until they can come up with a holiday for men (please don't tell me that V-day is for men & women, how many men do you know that love getting flowers and a card) I am not going to enjoy wasting money.

With that said, I did take my lovely wife out to dinner and a movie. We had Chinese (excellent buffet) and went to Freedom Writers. The original plan was to go to Milligan and eat at An Evening with Friends (a restaurant), but thank goodness the roads were bad, so we got to hang out in Fairbury instead. Freedom Writers was a enjoyable movie based on a true story about kids in South L.A. that hate school, then get a teacher their freshman year that really cares about them. They all wrote journals and Mrs. G (the teacher) combined them into a book called The Freedom Writers. The assignment was based upon The Diary of Anne Frank, so a lot of war talk (gang fights) and Nazi comparisons. It is amazing what you can accomplish when you actually sell out for a cause. Very enjoyable.

That is about it for now, I'll post next week about how the trip to Lincoln went to get Kelli's things. I'm not looking forward to it, there may be lots of tears.

MVP Grossman.....My brothers Baby!

Wow. I have been very bitter the last few days due to the completely inept performance by Rex Grossman. The thought of his play during the superbowl still causes nightmares. The possibility of him coming back to Chicago to play for another year (his contract year no less) is something that I cannot bear. I don't even want to talk about Rex until after the draft. Seriously, don't even bring it up anymore. Still a little bitter I guess.

But here is something I am SO excited for, the birth of my very first blood nephew....Miles Philip Rogge. Shae (my brother Matt's wife) had the little guy at 11:58 pm on Saturday, February 3rd. He weighed in at 8 lbs .01 oz and was 20.5 long with a head that circled 13.5. YEAH, he is a cute little guy and I went to see him yesterday and took a picture, the best one so far in my opinion.

Here is little Miles Philip Rogge
(note the hair, absolutely fantastic)

The bad news is he doesn't get to come home yet. He still has a high white blood cell count and is on an IV until the 10th. The doctors still don't know exactly what the problem is, but the splotches on his face are going away and hopefully this is as bad as it gets. Matt and Shae are very relaxed and know that everything is going to be fine, which is great. So HORRAY for the new Rogge.

Bear Down, Chicago Bears

THE CHICAGO BEARS ARE IN THE SUPERBOWL! I cannot tell you how exiting this is. There is plenty of talk about how Manning is going to throw all over the Bears D, but I am hoping that he chokes like he has the last 4 years in the postseason. Here is what I think may happen for a Bears victory...
1. Manning chokes under pressure, the Bears D looks spectacular and the Grossman has a "good" day (no turnovers and 1 TD) = Bears Win 34 - 17

2. Manning chokes under pressure and the Bears D looks good. Grossman, however, plays like an idiot and Hester has to return a TD for the special teams to pull us through = Bears Win 24 - 21

If Manning plays well, the Bears only chance is that Grossman plays like the first five games of the season. ON FIRE. In any other situation, it could be a crummy superbowl for the Bears.

I will be cheering loudly (with my little Bro Mark - another Bears fan) and will supply pictures of this great event (the Superbowl, not my party) in my next blog.

I will leave you with this... (sing along if you can)

Bear down!, Chicago Bears! Make every play clear the way to victory!
Bear down, Chicago Bears! Put up a fight with a might so fearlessly!
We'll never forget the way you thrilled the nation, with your T formation.
Bear down, Chicago Bears, and let them know why you're wearing the crown
You're the pride and joy of lllinois. Chicago Bears, bear down!

My First Post.....a depressing one

I am here in Elsie, NE doing something I though I would never do for at least 50 years. Attending my sister-in-laws funeral. Kelli Farnsworth (McQueen) was only 32 yrs old. She died from a heart attack. At 32. Amazing.

When I broke it to the kids, I didn't sugar coat it. I told them that she was dead and they wouldn't be seeing her again. Natalie asked if it was time for breakfast yet. Dylan looked sad for a minute, then shook it off. I guess it won't hit home until next Thanksgiving when everyone is supposed to be together and Kelli isn't there.

I really don't know what else to say. There is a lot of support for Karri (my wife) and all of our friends are coming together and doing what they do best. Supporting. So, Horray for friends being good friends. Thank-you from the ENTIRE McQueen family. It is appreciated.
